From Management Trainee to Corporate Account Executive
by Jacqueline Briner on 22.04.26 13:52
After successfully completing the one-year Management Trainee Program at Enterprise, Jilwan took on his new role as Corporate Account Executive in March 2026. During this time, he went through an intensive learning and development phase that specifically prepared him for his current position.
In the interview, he shares which experiences shaped him, which expectations were met, and why the trainee program was an important step in his career.
Development and Career
Looking back, Jilwan describes the Management Trainee Program as a positive, diverse, and highly practical learning experience.
“Achieving goals step by step and consciously recognizing even small successes” was a key takeaway for him. Equally important was the realization: “Customer relationships need to be built and maintained over the long term and play a crucial role in sales.”
Teamwork was also an essential component: success does not happen alone, but through exchange and shared learning.
“I knew from the beginning that my path lay in sales and account management,” he says in retrospect. This allowed him to deepen his focus in these areas throughout the program.
Overall, the Management Trainee Program fully met his expectations. He particularly appreciated the variety of assignments – from his time at Zurich Airport to logistics and the sales team. This diversity had a strong impact on him, even though it required flexibility and spontaneity.
He recommends the trainee program to individuals who show initiative, take responsibility, and actively seek personal development.
Entry and Transition After the Trainee Program
The transition into his role as Corporate Account Executive was seamless, as his final placement was already in account management.
Today, his focus lies on managing existing clients, conducting regular customer visits, and acquiring new clients. In addition, he is involved in organizing sales meetings and improving internal processes.
The product and process knowledge he gained during the trainee program, as well as his structured way of working with clear goals and deadlines, are particularly helpful. “I use that every day,” says Jilwan.
In retrospect, the one-year trainee program was an important step in his development and an ideal preparation for his current role.
Role as Corporate Account Executive
His daily work is varied and consists of client management, new business development, and sales activities.
Jilwan sees the biggest challenge in balancing efficient operations with individualized, personal customer care. Depending on the client, different communication approaches and more time in the sales process are required.
“You have to stay flexible and adapt to each client individually,” he explains.
At the same time, it is important for him to consciously recognize small progress and to build strong, long-term customer relationships.
Conclusion
The journey from Management Trainee to Corporate Account Executive shows how targeted development, practical experience, and personal initiative can work together. For Jilwan, the trainee program was not only an entry into the industry but also a formative foundation for his current role in account management.
